Why Creative World School Offers 5-Mile Protected Franchise Territories
October 8, 2025Opening a preschool franchise can be an incredibly rewarding business move. At Creative World School, we love working with future owners who are passionate about education and ready to make a difference in their communities. But before you jump in, it’s important to go beyond the basics and really understand all the costs involved.
You’re probably wondering What are the fees in daycare franchises? or Are there hidden costs in preschool franchising? These are the right questions to be asking. Let’s walk through what it really costs to open a preschool, what expenses can catch people off guard, and how we help you plan for long-term success.
Franchise Fees: What to Know Upfront
At Creative World School, we believe in being fully transparent about costs from day one so there truly aren’t any hidden fees or unexpected surprises. We want every candidate to have a clear picture of what to expect financially before they commit.
Most preschool franchise brands charge an 8% to 10% royalty fee from day one. That means you start paying a significant portion of your revenue right away, even before your enrollment is steady. At Creative World, we take a different approach. Our royalty model begins at 5% in your first year. In fact, you don’t pay any royalty until your school has 75 enrolled and paying students. In year two, the rate goes to 6%, and from year three on, it caps at 7%. This gives new owners some breathing room to grow their school without immediately handing over a large portion of revenue. We want to see your school get off to a strong start and stay healthy long term. For a more detailed breakdown, check out Daycare Franchise Cost.
Cost of Materials and Supplies for a Preschool
Once your school is built and ready to welcome families, it’s time to fill those classrooms and kitchens with everything children need. Supplies aren’t a one-time cost. You’ll need to continuously stock learning tools, art materials, sensory play items, curriculum pieces, food service products, and more.
Larger Creative World schools spend over $65,000 annually on educational supplies and about $80,000 on food and kitchen materials. These numbers can vary depending on your enrollment, but they give you a solid idea of what to plan for. We provide vendor recommendations, purchasing support, and tools to help you manage supply costs effectively from the beginning.
Ongoing Costs That Add Up
Let’s talk about the everyday expenses that come with owning a preschool. Once your school is open, you’ll have recurring monthly costs like utilities, insurance, marketing, maintenance, and administrative stuff. These aren’t necessarily “hidden” costs, but they’re easy to underestimate if you’ve never run a business before.
For example, advertising alone can run about $25K a year, and general admin expenses might be another $50K. Things like phone service, internet, cleaning services, and paper goods also add up. Even though Creative World owners typically own their buildings, many use Small Business Administration (SBA) loans to finance them with monthly payments. We help you plan for all of this so there are no surprises and no hidden costs.
Our model is designed to give you as much clarity as possible before you make a decision. Everything is spelled out in our Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD), and we always encourage candidates to talk directly with our current owners. Many are happy to share what they spend and how long it took them to break even.
Big Commitment, Bigger Impact
Opening a Creative World School typically requires a total investment of around $6 to $6.5 million, depending on the size and location. This covers everything you need to launch your school, including the land, building, equipment, and materials. For our standard school model, franchisees are expected to invest at least $800,000 upfront as part of that total. Our schools are built to be beautiful, purpose-designed spaces that families love and kids feel excited to learn in. And because you own the building, land, and contents, you’re also building long-term equity in your business. Yes, it’s a significant commitment, but also a meaningful one. Our most successful owners are engaged, mission-driven, and ready to make an impact in their communities. If that sounds like you, we’d love to connect.
