The 615’s Best Kept Business Secret? How to Own a Top-Tier Nashville Preschool Franchise
January 30, 2026
At Creative World School, we work with people every day who are ready to build something meaningful. If you’re one of the many looking into how to start a preschool franchise in Charlotte, NC in 2026, now is a good time to lean in and learn more. This city is growing, families are everywhere, and the demand for early childhood education is steady. It’s not just about finding a hot market. It’s about building a business that fits into real life while serving a real need.
Step 1: Know What Starting a Preschool Franchise Really Involves
From zoning and licensing to designing classrooms and building a team, there’s a lot to figure out. That’s why going the franchise route makes things so much more manageable. When you join Creative World, you’re not just buying into a brand. You’re getting a full playbook, ongoing support, and a team that’s already done this many times over. From your first call all the way to your school opening (and way beyond that), you’ll get guidance on construction, hiring, marketing, and operations. You’re not expected to know it all. We’ll help walk you through it.
If you want to see how the full process works, check out our step-by-step guide to opening a preschool franchise. It’ll give you a clear picture of what to expect.
Step 2: Understand the Charlotte Market
Charlotte isn’t just growing. It’s growing in a way that makes it ideal for early childhood education. Between 2023 and 2024, more than 57,000 people moved into the Charlotte region. That’s around 157 new people a day! A big portion of them are young families settling into neighborhoods and looking for strong, reliable preschools.
As of 2025, Charlotte’s population is just under one million. The metro area? Over 2.3 million and still climbing. Just under 57,500 children in Charlotte are under the age of 5. Talk about opportunity! Families moving into Charlotte are looking for high-quality schools that feel like part of their community. They want clean, well-run, engaging spaces where their kids are safe and supported. That’s exactly what we help our owners build.
Step 3: Secure Your Financing
Opening a preschool franchise means planning for things like land, construction, equipment, licensing, and hiring. It’s a real investment, but the good news is, it’s one that comes with structure and support.
Most Creative World School locations require around $600,000 to $800,000 in initial capital. That can come from savings, loans, family partnerships, or a mix of sources. We help you understand what’s required upfront and what options are available for SBA financing. We’ve seen all kinds of funding approaches—from couples working together to multigenerational partnerships between parents and adult children.
We also offer something a lot of other franchises don’t. You won’t pay any royalty fees until your school hits 75 enrolled students. After that, your first year royalty is 5%, then 6% in year two, and it caps at 7% starting in year three. This tiered structure gives you space to grow before the full franchise fee kicks in. It’s one of the many reasons people feel confident starting with us.
Step 4: Find the Right Location in Charlotte
Charlotte is full of growing areas that are perfect for new schools. The key is choosing a location that’s easy to access, surrounded by families, and has enough nearby children to support your school long term.
We help you analyze local demographics, traffic patterns, and available land to make sure the location you choose has the potential to thrive. Ideally, we’re looking for 5,000 children within a 4-mile radius. That’s more than enough to support a school with 185 to 250 students.
You’ll also get full construction plans for your building—either 10,000 or 13,000 square feet—plus help navigating zoning, access, utilities, and site layout. The location process is a big deal, and it’s something we guide you through step by step.
Step 5: Get Support for Licensing, Staffing, and Training
North Carolina has specific licensing requirements for preschools, and we know the process well. You’ll get help preparing and submitting your documents, setting up inspections, and making sure your school meets state standards. It’s all built into our onboarding and project management support.
When it’s time to hire, we’ll help you find a qualified Director and Assistant Director, along with educators who are aligned with our philosophy. Our schools aren’t academic mills. They’re inquiry-based, child-focused, and designed for movement, exploration, and play. You don’t need a background in education, but you do need to understand the value of great early learning.
Before your doors open, you’ll attend training at our headquarters and get hands-on support from our team. You’ll also receive systems training, marketing materials, and operational tools to help you stay on track.
Step 6: Open with Confidence
Most of our owners aren’t teachers or administrators. They’re local parents, grandparents, or entrepreneurs who want to be part of something that matters. You won’t be managing classrooms all day, but you will stay involved at a leadership level. Owners guide the business while their Director handles the day-to-day.
Schools are open Monday through Friday. That means no late nights, weekends, or holidays. The schedule is consistent and family-friendly, which is part of the reason so many of our owners say this business fits their lives better than anything they’ve done before.
